I feel this. I regularly talk to family about wanting to go back to get my PhD and this comes up on the regular. Very grateful I learned skills besides just MA/academic related skills.

Also, I can’t deny that talking about X-tube dying seems an easy way to get views. Seen it happen in so many hobby spaces.

It’s an interesting conversation to watch, especially as I grow increasingly convinced that the creator economy that is empowered by platforms like TikTok and YouTube approaches a turning point that make them less viable as a job due to AI content saturation.
