Studies show when curriculum is culturally relevant, students perform better and engage more. But the proposed lists lack historical contributions of POC and promotes beliefs refuted by historians that America was founded as a Christian nation.

Our students deserve better.

This week, the State Board of Education is considering revisions to social studies K-12 TEKS. TSTA's ally, the Texas Freedom Network, found several problems with the new TEKS developed by board-appointed content advisors who have never written curriculum standards before.

MLK served as a teacher to us all. He taught us to embrace peace in the face of violence and dignity in the face of subjugation.

The entire 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear attorneys’ arguments on the Texas Ten Commandments law and a similar law from Louisiana, helping to clear the way for an ultimate final ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in 1980 that a similar law from Kentucky was unconstitutional.

Despite heavy public opposition, private school subsidies were signed into law setting aside $1 billion for the program with no permanent cap after the first two years.

This isn’t a one-time expense. It’s the first step in a long-term plan to privatize education.
