It isn’t abnormal for the others to wake up and start their days before I do, and after last night, I’m not going to begrudge myself any extra sleep. Wooing an omega who seemingly wants nothing to do with our pack while also simultaneously wanting to be our omega is going to take a lot out of us. The sleep will be necessary. It doesn’t surprise me that the door to the nest is cracked open, and I pause to peek inside just long enough to confirm no one is inside before pulling the door the rest of the way shut and starting down the hallway. It’s the scent of tea that slows my footsteps, my eyebrows rising slightly as I reach the end of the hall and see Daisuke and Mickey kicked back on the sectional together, watching Goddess only knows what on TV. If it had been Aries with Mickey, I would be less surprised, though it is nice when Daisuke lets himself be domestic.

Though the nest has been made up properly with mountains of pillows and blankets piled inside, there’s no sight of Mickey whatsoever. He must already be up and roaming around the house, which is a good sign at the very least. As long as he doesn’t feel like a prison, we might be able to make some headway with him.

If the woods aren’t privately owned property, then they do create one escape route, though the physical fitness of the alphas in this house is something I have to keep in mind. Easy enough to drown out when I confronted them directly and wrapped my hands around their throat, choking them into silence to grant me a reprieve from all of the things I cannot have. It is far too easy to read into her actions and words, to see patterns that are not there until I would likely drive myself crazy chasing shadows in the dark. Allowing me close to her means nothing; her father died when she was quite young, and Miles was a shit stepfather to her, so perhaps an older male presence in her life comforts her. And it would make sense to question my relationship status so she knows what to expect as we share a life together.

The time zone difference isn’t all that extreme, all things being equal, but it does slightly throw me off that there’s still so much time left in the day. Will I still feel this awake by the time night rolls around? Maybe it doesn’t matter. Getting it out of the way seems like a good idea.
