Monitoring heat pumps at HeatpumpMonitor.org, open source energy monitoring at OpenEnergyMonitor.org.
Performance on space heating has been great so far, COP 4. While a buffer was installed as per viessman spec, we also have the option to bypass the buffer and we've been running it with the buffer bypassed all on the primary circulation pumps just fine over recent days 👍

We've written up the main findings from HeatpumpMonitor.org so far here docs.openenergymonitor.org/heatpumpmoni..., presenting this tomorrow at the DESNZ/IEA heatpump research seminar 🤓

Great! there should be a Network page available from the Setup menu.. e.g, is that option there for you?

E.g Isle of Canna system gets to 93% renewable with 36 kW wind, 39 kW solar, 225 kWh battery + 2x 64 kW diesel generators (are one of those a spare?) Seems like a lot of diesel gen capacity, the theoretical modelling I've done usually comes out at a backup gen ~25% of wind solar capacity e.g 20 kW..

How well can heat pumps work when designed, installed and commissioned well? This is one of the main questions we are exploring with HeatpumpMonitor.org. There are now 64 systems with a year of data, averaging an SPF H4 of 3.9. Feel free to explore the data for each system on the site 🤓

Thought I better double check what our data actually says, it's not a strong trend and there's a lot of variance above and below the line but seems to be a slight correlation between poor building fabric and higher SPF..

I think this is it from the 2021 report, the dataset is from installs subject to 'metering for payment' which means 1. the heat pump is hybrid with gas/oil boiler 2. the property uses more than one renewable technology for space heating, or 3. the property is occupied for less than 183 days per year

We recently added a column to highlight the system boundaries being monitored. Both of these systems are H4 boundary which means they include all electricity consumption, see Fig 5 MCS guidance document (also cover this on the about page here: heatpumpmonitor.org/about)

There are now 60 systems on HeatpumpMonitor.org with almost a full year of data, congrats to Barry Sharp with the Nibe PVT and Damon Blakemore with the Viessmann both tracking SCOP 5! These also provide lowest unit cost of heat across a range of tariffs e.g 3.7 p/kWh on Agile

Hello all, from Eryri North Wales! Will sporadically post about heat pumps and zero carbon energy stuff I'm sure 😄
