Note that the one repost on X came from me, as well as one of those likes

Taking it at face value, this example suggests that Bluesky is >100x enriched over X for users interested in this topic, which covers the intersection of life science/drug development/bioinformatics/AI

TIL part 2: Wikipedia’s picture is called “Today’s featured picture“ — akin to “Today’s featured article”. Wikimedia Commons’ POTD is independent.

Odd that the @wikipedia.org app displays the Commons’ POTD instead of Wikipedia’s featured picture.🤔

“This image was selected as picture of the day on Wikimedia Commons” — stated on the Commons page for the image (link in my OP).

TIL: Wikipedia’s POTD is different from @wikicommons.bsky.social‘s POTD. Unexpected, but 👌.

Note this peacock girl is shown as the POTD on the Wikipedia mobile app. But it’s different than the POTD shown on the Wikipedia website homepage and at @wiki-potd.bsky.social — the poster for the English-language version, Falka, of the opéra bouffe “Le droit d'aînesse”.

Why the discrepancy? 🤷‍♂️

Most people experience it at least once and about 5% have recurrent episodes. Though sometimes linked with narcolepsy, on its own it is usually harmless. Understanding the biology can reduce fear. Wake up to more knowledge ➡️ w.wiki/3irU (3/3)

Carl Sagan: “If we have been bamboozled long enough we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It is simply too painful to acknowledge- even to ourselves that we’ve been taken”

Smart cities know that, as hot as they already are, they’re just going to keep getting hotter. Greening the city not only cools it down, it cleans the air, quiets the noise, improves mental health & happiness, saves public money, & more. Strand Aldwych, London. 2021 vs. 2025. Via @modacitylife.com
