If Elon promised that for every page view on a site he owns, he would personally kill a puppy, some people might stop posting there. Maybe.

As if Valve isn’t “the employees.”

Valve just baffles everyone who’s used to all the big companies, huh?

They had a lot of cameras getting excellent coverage on their BTS footage! And some really cool prototype keyboards for their computer!

After knowing your name since it graced the pages of PC Gamer issues that I’ve still got stashed, today I learned that you’ve got a [quite classy] British accent! Everything is topsy-turvy in my world!

As a Californian who spent time in Texas, I 100% did not adopt the local ways of speaking. Accent or idioms. Same thing, I wanted to bring home with me, not adapt myself to where I went.

Steel? That’s just processed rock. You told me rock was terrible, now that I’m all in on wood, you want me to go back to rock? Besides, wood is useful for more. Like ships. Can’t build ships from your stupid rock steel stuff. Gotta float. Rocks are dumb. All hail wood!

Only if I can still get my hands on a functional Steam Controller or equivalent with the programmable giant circle touchpads and back paddles!

I think you can swipe it from right to left or left to right to reveal a Dismiss option?

At least they're not trying to single out millennials.

I almost just thought to myself, "Oh, that must be what's going on with [really expensive piece of industrial lab equipment with crappy plastic gear that goes out]." Then I remembered that the company won't sell me a spare part and I have to replace the whole $1500 thing.

Oh, so you saw us all going crazy in #members-general about Babylon 5, eh?

Heh, I get to experience that every time I go to my in-law's. There's a mountain I climb where my Prius with the pedal to the floor will decelerate (once the hybrid battery is exhausted) until it hits a sustainable 50 or so.

I wouldn’t have followed you across three networks if you weren’t. My only regret is that it’s too difficult to onboard my friends to your brand of entertainment.

Well thanks for stealing my answer! <grin>

Oh no, where are you stuck?
November 10, 2025 at 12:11 AM
I can say as someone also in a dry climate that I also occasionally have this issue. But also, there are very high-end dishwashers that are happy to dispense (liquid) detergent for you. But the ones I know of are in the severals of thousands dollars price range. If that appeals, check Miéle.

If movie prices were still at 1999 levels and also the quality of watching movies at home was at 1999 levels, then I’d probably have seen a lot of movies three or more times in a week at the theater in the last fifteen years.

I’ve owned two original Pebbles, two Pebbles Time, and I’m anxiously awaiting the delivery of my new Time!

I will sometimes pay more to just have the convenience of grabbing to go, but...that's a hefty premium to satisfy my "I don't want to interact with people" urges.

Have you seen any Double Fine documentary? It's not exactly about the indie scene, but it's not the most white male thing ever and could help!

I think I recall having heard it once...like...years ago. And I just laughed to myself. I wish I had made note of it, though. It's just buried in the recesses of my memory where I'm not even sure it actually happened and isn't just me retconning my own memory.
