It’s like the Ozempic style of crime deterrent because it’s extremely expensive and will go back to normal rates once he inevitably removes the national guard from these cities. Such a waste

is this zooroastrianism?
A zoo in Denmark is asking pet owners to donate their animal companions — their guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and even small horses — to feed to its predators. In a Facebook post, the zoo noted that donations of pets would help it mimic the natural food chain.

It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

Back during Trump's first term, back when he was hocking the big beautiful wall (that Mexico would pay for), some MAGA account on Twitter commented, "if walls were such a bad idea, then why does Nancy Pelosi have four of them around her house?"

So often in Ann Radcliffe's "The Mysteries of Udolpho", guards watching a castle see an intruder but assume it's a ghost. I'm sorry, but you're just bad at your job! Can you imagine if police let criminals walk free and just assumed they were apparitions?

it's so obvious that republicans aren’t questioning Trump at all, because they don’t even try to workshop his slogans. E.g., "One Big Beautiful Bill Act."

How would you implement a 100% tariff on a film? Is that the budget or like the ticket/rental price? What about for companies like Netflix/Amazon that have thousands of films partially or wholly produced abroad? This man just never stops with the tariff madness.

This is now the second piece I've read from the NYT travel team in which an author from Brooklyn tries to understand, skeptically, why Finland keeps topping the happiness index that barely mentions healthcare/education or strong and inclusive social safety nets. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/02/m...

Julia Roberts's character in My Best Friend's Wedding is perhaps the most manipulative, conniving, backstabbing and underhanded characters in cinema. Her best friend invites her to be the maid of honor at his wedding--his lovely fiance agrees--and she determines to ensure the wedding doesn't happen.
