Expat American living in Ireland, and glad to have escaped the fascist dictatorship.
With two of three cats currently on a diet, and everyone's food rations being cut by half, the good news is, for now, they all eat what they're given, even the foods they don't like so much.

The bad news is their communication with me has more or less become, "You should feed us."

It's mocking Musk for his own opposition to gender-affirming treatment for transgendered people, when he's done the same.

His hypocrisy.

I disagree with your assessment of his personality. He's more what passes through a sphincter muscle. A sphincter serves a purpose. Excrement is a discard.

His hair plugs are his gender-affirming surgery.
December 7, 2025 at 2:10 AM
With "funny," you have, of course, misspelled "hypocritical."

I only mock Musk on his hair plugs because he mocks others for what they do.

I could have been a lot more wealthy than I am. I chose my morals, ethics, and altruism, instead.
December 7, 2025 at 12:35 AM
I'm also gonna be petty and add that, in my 50s, my full, luscious head of hair is real.

And I decided long ago, if I lost my hair I'd just shave it when it hit a certain point and go full Patrick Stewart with dignity.

Elon needed cosmetic, gender-affirming surgery.

Of course, besides the issue of Trump and co. using NVEs as an excuse to tear the system down, we've got a significant proportion of an entire generation who want to tear all the systems down.

Yeah, I really wanted a drink after reading the article. I made the mistake of doing so before bed.

34? Damn I'm old.

True story -- I was in John de Lancie's acting workshop at the time. A Tues night class.

So on December 10, 1991 we all went to see the movie, instead. After, John bought everyone ice cream and we had a chat.

John was always a nice man in my experience.

I'm a bit surprised. Pretty much since Zaslav took over at WB I started saying, "It's obvious he's being payed by Disney to devalue the company so Disney can acquire it, cheap."

So, WB being sold isn't the surprise. Just that Netflix may win the bid.

I unabashedly and unironically love this bit of camp.

Honestly, some of the best production design of all time...

And Klytus looks more Doctor Doom than Doctor Doom.

Meaning Dune is a rare sci-fi story where the ethnic backgrounds of the cast are actually important to the plot.

Rare. So, so rare.

But, yeah, costumes and pronunciation are petty complaints. Like I said, I should give it another chance.

We know the Fremen are descended from Middle-Eastern Muslims. Why do we have a bunch of white dudes dressed like Robin Hood?

Funny thing is I normally don't care about racial casting, but, in Dune, the entire damn plot line revolves around the Bene Gesseret and their eugenics crap. /cont

We have audio of Frank Herbert saying things -- it's "har-KO-nan," not "HAR-kah-nan." When we have audio and/or pronunciation guides from the author there's no excuse to get that wrong.

Same with costumes. We known the Harkonnans are descended from Nordics. Why are their costumes Japanese? /cont

I might need to give this version another chance. At the time, I just didn't enjoy it. I found William Hurt so BORING, and, at the time I'd read all the extant "making of" stuff (including referring to the books) so was annoyed by a lot of petty stuff.

Like name pronunciation. /cont

I object. Under the "Every Accusation is a Confession Rule," Donald Trump is "garbage."
December 3, 2025 at 9:24 PM
No, he's literally demented and can't retain the information.
December 1, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Not a bad choice.

My first instinct was Frank Welker, but it's hard to argue with Todd Vaziri's pick of Mel Blanc.
December 1, 2025 at 7:50 AM
Boy, my first instinct was Frank Welker, because he's dropped in so many silly little animal effects in so many films, but, yeah, Mel Blanc FTW.

With Mel Blanc you get Jack Benny.

"No idea?"

Man, when *I* have testa done I make damn sure I know on what, for why, and what the results mean.

But I don't suffer from dementia, so...

One word too many. Don't need "modern."

But, seriously, well phrased.

Certainly the best seasons of Gallifrey.

(Even if they are the "Navin is an asshole jerk," seasons not the "Navin is cook, but still a jerk," seasons.)

Considering AI is considered to good for repetitive, routine, unimportant tasks, this says a lot about what executives really do.

(True)

Sometimes one just goes for the snark...

Suddenly I have respect for Chuck Tingle.

(Nope, Laura fell asleep. So I'll watch a couple of episodes of Rowan Atkinson in "The Thin Blue Line" -- which I'd not seen before -- as soon as I make a boozy hot chocolate with Bailey's and coconut rum.)
