Cataloguing some rare Edward Gorey for Trident Halifax! We have quite a few of his works right now, and here's the newest!

We think the third image is a previous owner name, but it is confidently inscribed on the dedication page! Anyone wanna take a stab at the name?

And sometimes, a hundred-odd years later, some pages remain uncut, like in this collection of Brieux plays!

DYK?

The ragged edge on some new books is rooted in the old practice of selling books "uncut." A book is a stack of sheets folded into 4 or 8 ("quires.") The "folded" edge was often left as-is, & readers would cut along the fold with a letter-opener to open it. The torn edge remained.

Ridiculously in love with our new gift mugs, made by Halifax artist (and longtime Trident friend) Mindy Moore!

Every one is different and every one is beautifully wonky and every one is special, which is very on-brand.

($40 each, and they are gonna last a lot less long than I’d thought.)
