Good to see them Hung Up. I’m assuming there’s an intentional Paul Weller reference here 😉

Tenants’ Choice was far too difficult. I was involved in the third and I think final TC transfer in south Wales. Progress to each step was in the gift of the local authority and if they were hostile then deadlock. We learnt a lot from WECH’s experience

One of Mick Byrne’s articles refers to the usual fears being expressed, exodus of private landlords due to rent control, home ownership subsidies creating housing price inflation. For measures already in place (such as RPZ controls) is there any evidence to justify fears?

And that’s what takes time. Easier to build new, even on brownfield. LAs need local regeneration strategies in place to focus effort and resources on empty properties where improvement will be sustainable

Yes certainly tackling empty homes in parts of south Wales Valleys are challenging where communities are struggling (but empty homes are a key factor in and cause of that decline and poor sustainability)

The news (for me anyway) only broke early on December 9, my 21st birthday. Radio 1 played Beatles tracks back to back all day and that evening I went to see The Jam in Bristol. Weller’s dedication, “this one’s for John Lennon, he helped write all our songs”

It should be on the radar but I suspect they are focussing on quicker solutions. Tracking down absent owners, the compulsory purchase process all takes time and then refurb. It needs to be on the list to be tackled soon

Romany travellers etc are protected by the Equality Act but even so the overt racism is shocking and history will judge us harshly.

Answering my own question here, according to Wikipedia it was his 42nd studio album. Glad I’m not collecting them

Always the way isn’t it, clearly irritated Bill RJ and he handled it well. Shushing from the audience worked for a short while but some people have no self awareness
