We weathered 2020 because of deep community roots - donors who kept giving during economic uncertainty, volunteers who found new ways to help, families who kept showing up.

Resilience isn't individual. It's collective.

As Satia says powerfully:
"This is North Philly."
The community knows what it needs. We provide the space and resources. They create the impact.

Between 2013-2017, our branches grew. We expanded our reach, deepened our impact.

Because Satia understood: This isn't about doing something FOR the community. It's about empowering the community to shape itself.

She didn't just work with children.

She involved their parents, asking: "How do you want to impact this neighborhood?"

She didn't just ask kids "what book do you want to read?"

She asked them: "What do you want to create here in North Philly?"
