Why does this make me think of “The Ring”?

If marketing myself was my motivation, I’d be posting ads for my graphic designs and photos that I sell online, but that’s not what I did here. Call it, testing the waters…and the water is just too tepid. And too political. I get enough of that elsewhere. 4/4

Social media has changed a lot since I started working with it. Often, not for the better. Algorithms favor conflict and stupidity over truth and beauty. Bluesky isn’t mature yet. I’d rather post to my 500 followers (down from >3000) on FB than post here for the few people who appreciate it. 3/4

Then I found I enjoyed programming. Everything from FORTRAN in the 80s to Python and Java in the 00s. I got out just in time (before AI took my job) and did social media marketing for a few years before doing photography for the last 10 years, mostly for clients, but often for myself. 2/4

I’ve been doing photography on and off for the last fifty years. In my 20s, my motivation was being able to photograph scantily clad lingerie models for the local department store. But dealing with people wasn’t my thing. So over the years I did more inanimate objects. 1/4

Thank you for the kind words. They mean a lot. I’m out on the web www.travelwitheric.com and also on IG and FB. I don’t post often on other social media and it’s often just personal stuff, but I’m out there if you need anything.

Apparently, people really like photos of birds. I do much more than bird photos, but when I post them, likes are minimal with no reposts. People just don’t seem interested in 90% of what I shoot. That’s okay, I’ll eventually find an audience.

It's time-consuming and I'm no longer getting much out of it. I'd rather devote my time to something a bit more constructive. Thanks for your support.

Wait, what? Eswantini? That sounds like an African part of Italy.

Thank you for recognition of this photo. For me, it’s a defining moment and an image I am very proud of, though I didn’t go to Nepal with this in mind. Few people understand the patience and dedication it takes to get an image like this, so I’m grateful when someone like you can appreciate that.

Thank you. 🙏 I grieved for months because they are your family. 🐶

My wife came up with it. It's Hawaiian for a she-wolf. Because she was so fierce. 😜 She was a stubborn little pup that was just beginning to learn to obey. She found a way out of the fenced yard that day.

I was just a little over a year ago, so it’s still pretty fresh in my mind. 😢🐶🌈 I’m not religious, but I like to believe that heaven is a place where, when you get there, all the dogs you ever loved come running to greet you.

Great shot and a nice reminder of all the wonderful Nat King Cole songs I heard my mother play while growing up. I still have those albums. 🎶💙🎙️🫶

Which is why it took three days to get just a handful of shots. I missed the mom leaving. I thank my sherpa for his knowledge of the location, even though I was beginning to lose faith in him, he was right.
