Seattle winter is great because it gives you more time to walk the dark streets like a ghost peering in on the warm lights of others

A movie that takes place where you're from

First, you'd better stop waving it around like a feather duster.

Meanwhile this princess threw up but is being very brave by not being under the bed. Serves her right for always trying to steal the dog's food though

TRUDY'S TRIANGLE (Mt Baker)

Attractionless grass triangle.

1/10

HORTON HILL CORRIDOR PARK (Mt Baker):

Basically a glorified version of one of the aforementioned hillside walkways, with a gutter running through and ending in a gargoyle.

3/10

MOUNT BAKER BOULEVARD:

This is just the grass strip between the two lanes of the boulevard, but it's technically a park. 3/10 bolstered by the adjacency of one of the best examples of the Seattle hillside walkway, a beautiful winding forest path.

There's also this thing in the heart of Leschi. I don't know that it counts as a park but it's somehow not a bus stop. 4/10?

E PINE SHORELINE STREET END (7/10)

I always think it's a little funny that Pine runs from the market downtown, up through the heart of the city nightlife, and winds up ending in this quiet and desolate stretch of lakefront.

GOLDMARK OVERLOOK (8/10) features my favorite bus stop in the city. Sometimes you can see bald eagles in the trees overhead.
November 15, 2025 at 9:57 PM
You can take either the high path or the forest arbor continuing north.

Somebody did some art with a tree that I assume got wrecked by the bomb cyclone.

MADRONA PARK (9/10) is the highlight. Those little stairs are one of my favorite places to hang in the summer.

Going south to north...

THE STRETCH OF LAKE WASHINGTON BOULEVARD FROM LESCHI MOORAGE TO E PINE STREET END (Leschi)

These are technically distinct parks, but with a continuous footpath connecting them. Individual ratings vary, 8/10 overall.

RESTROOMS/TABLES: Yes, although I think the restrooms are often locked in winter

There's also a great picnic shelter with old industrial equipment and a weird sundial at the top of the hill.

GAS WORKS PARK (Wallingford)

Built on a former coal gas plant, with landscape design by Richard Haag. THE spot to be in the summer. Watch out for goose poop.

RESTROOMS/TABLES: Yes

TROLL'S KNOLL PARK (Fremont)

Home of the famous troll. They recently started putting in an expansion that goes up the hill and has some more cute stuff.

8/10 but mostly because you wouldn't want to spend lots of time here, it being under the freeway and all

RESTROOMS/TABLES: No

THAT ONE TRIANGLE AT THE BASE OF THE HILL ON DENNY WAY

I don't think this is classified as a park, but it's a public space you can move through that has some art features. Needs a some repair. The substation across the street has some cool public art too.

6/10

RESTROOMS/TABLES: what do you think

THOMAS STREET MINI PARK (Capitol Hill)

Unremarkable.

5/10
