The funniest part about no conference championship games and 18 team conferences is you’re gonna get more freak tiebreaks like the one that put Duke in this game but it’ll be for the actual conference title and seeding and people will be so mad there isn’t a way to get a definitive conference champ.

It’s kind of funny that the 12 team playoff came about from a standpoint of not excluding a team that could win it all, now teams that clearly know they couldn’t win it all are talking about ducking CCGs so they can have a playoff appearance on their résumés.

They even did kind of knock SMU (for losing on a last second FG); they dropped two spots, it just wasn’t enough for them to be completely out.

Yeah, this is the complete lack of nuance I’ve seen in these takes. It wouldn’t be counted against them if they played Georgia close and if you don’t think you’re good enough to even make the CCG competitive, what are you even doing trying to be in the playoff?

This is all just so in like five years they can be like “what if you could watch the new Netflix movie with a bunch of people on a really huge screen?” and it’s just going to the movies but worse and more expensive.
