more than just the ending imo. Yosuke's constant bigotry (mostly homophobia) being unchallenged, Yukiko's arc being to realize that putting her family over her own dreams is the right thing to do, the queerbaiting with Kanji and especially Naoto. There's also something to say about the mean/annoying characters being ugly, which is reinforced when Teddy's self acceptance leads to him getting a bishonen pretty boy human body.

If you or anyone you know lives or would be willing to travel to the Seattle area, I am looking to rehome my cat and best friend of 11 years. He's neutered, fully vaccinated, and generally in perfect health for his age. It breaks my heart to have to do this, but I would love to find him a new owner.

To give some nuance to the other side of this, MonHun was one of my favorite game series in the era of around FU to 3U, and I think 3U to this day is my favorite in the series and one of my favorite games generally. Yes, I see the slow QoL-creep as a detriment for me, but it's not about gatekeeping. For me, and many hunters like me who feel like the series left them behind, the struggle in older games was part of the fun. The preparation that went into every hunt, the frustration that went into bug catching and mining and such, all of that was part of the appeal. Speaking as an HBG main especially, having to devote large portions of my limited item allowance per quest to materials to make more ammo (and having to occasionally take breaks from hunting to get more of it), that was all something that I had to put conscious thought into, and that really added to the experience. The addition of so many tools to the hunter's arsenal from mounting to skills to the massive mobility creep, that genuinely makes the game worse for me - but for everyone who prefers it, and especially if it allows them to enjoy the game at all after bouncing off older titles? I'm glad for them. You can liken it to a series that went through a similar shift around the same time, Fire Emblem - yes I prefer the older games, but it's because of Awakening that the series is even still around for new fans to discover, and I think the same is true of MH World. I forget who I saw say this, but it's a sentiment I certainly share - when it feels like victory is always guaranteed, it makes it feel hollow. And in the modern games, with all the tools easily accessible, it feels like I'd have to try to lose.
