The 1 bus remains the slowest bus in the T’s network, and after coming in sixth place last year, the 23 bus took the top spot for bunching.

– The MBTA & the City of Boston partnered to pilot transit signal priority
– The MBTA committed to headway management

👎 Overall, bus service got slower & less reliable in 2024.
🚍 Average speeds on the MBTA’s 10 slowest routes fell from 6.8 mph to 6.5 mph, & the average bunching rate across the 10 most-bunched routes rose from 14% to nearly 16%.
