Thought I'd like to share this tumblr user's rant about a certain indie animation project's jab towards HB

I don't know if what they say about this "senior film" process in animation school is accurate however

[Post by tumblr user roodles03] You know as someone who has extensive knowledge of the animation industry and will one day be looking for work (specifically interested in the indie scene) i got some things to say on this. It's rule fucking 0: Not even rule number 1: DO NOT DESTROY YOUR INVISIBLE RESUME IN THE ANIMATION INDUSTRY ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE JUST STARTING OUT. The VERY FIRST thing our animation professors seriously hammered in on us was our "Invisible Resume," the industry is TINY. Way smaller then you'd ever imagine. Almost everyone knows each other, it's important to make connections from the very beginning. The people in your classes will likely be your future co-workers, and making a good first impression with your fellow industry workers in invaluable. What I'm about to say is a true story from my university, btw. The professors constantly tell this story as an example of just HOW important the invisible resume is. There was once a student that was the best they had ever seen in terms of his skills, he was outstanding at basically everything, passed the mid benchmark with flying colors, (for reference I failed this benchmark!) could do basically almost every sort of animation they taught, digital 2D hand drawn, 2D rigging, traditional 2D (when they still taught it there), 3D, VFX, mograph, you name it. The way senior films work here is that you make a story or concept or whatever, and pitch your final flim to the professors, who then decide to greenlight your capstone flim, or reject it. If you get rejected your assigned to another team to someone's flim who was greenlit based on how comapanle [sic] you are in terms of cooperation and skills. You then work on your capstone flim for your entire senior year with these people. This student obviously was greenlit, BUT they assigned NOBODY to his team because he was SO UTTERLY HORRIBLE TO WORK WITH. (We were never told how or in what kind of horrible way but NO BODY liked him, not even the professors) His final flim was apparently amazing despite it being done by himself and he even won awards, and he graduated. When companies who were interested in him called his previous professors about how he was to work with, they straight up said, to basically all of them, "DO NOT HIRE HIM HE DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH OTHERS," I don't know what exactly happened after or if he ever got a foot in the industry, but this is a TRUE story and why your invisible resume is SO important in this industry. It starts before you even GET anywhere in the industry, and it can DESTROY your chances of getting In The industry. So, seeing this person's indie project instantly shit on another, the one who is basically paved the way for the animation indie industry in the first place, as a way to advertise their own, has told me, someone who in the future will be looking for work in these spaces, to not seek out a job for this crew. You're allowed to dislike a show for any reason, of course, criticism is very important in this industry ofc! But the industry is small, especially the indie animation industry, and this is a HORRIBLE way to introduce yourself and your project. I'm not gonna work with people who destroy their invisible resume until they can regain my trust. I can take my future work somewhere else as the indie scene grows. L*ck*d*isy [censored so it won't appear in search results] also shattered their invisible resume for me years ago, by the way. Imagine getting 5k donated to you for your DREAM project, and then be a complete asshole about it and then REFUND the money because YOU DON'T LIKE SOMEONE. Money is MONEY, if someone I hated gave me 5k, I would've put it towards something better then what they would've put it towards. The indie scene is fucking saving the industry, and I really don't understand why so many other indie creators are so hostile to one and other, especially with Viv. We should be working together guys, because we should be fighting the MEGA CORPS AND NOT EACH OTHER. The mega corps WANT us to infight so we destroy ourselves and crawl back to them. Seriously, this attitude is just sad to see.
