As someone who works hand in hand with the VA everyday, my heart is breaking for Alex’s colleagues and family. Caring for some of the most vulnerable and broken people in their worst moments takes a kind heart. It sounds like he had it in abundance.

It’s so tense when you spend so much energy trying to find an elusive client who is sleeping rough because you actually have a safe and semi-permanent bed for them but they have no phone and no one has seen them in a week. I hate that not all shelters log the same way!
