Felt great the last time and then everyone fucked up across the board and I’ve had to wake up wondering what fresh hell awaits every morning since Jan 20th, 2025. But he’s not the only problem. He’s got a substantial army of nefarious abettors who are young and will be a threat for years to come.

Black cherry sauce made with port or a good hearty red wine with duck and wild rice is awesome.

I typically cook my wild rice on the stove top with a mix of high quality chicken stock and water- 50/50 - and then finish it off in the oven at 350 with a bit more water or stock for 20 minutes. It goes with everything and the way I cook it it can be a meal in itself. I like Lundbergs.

Well, my dad grew up in the Bible Belt & rejected segregationist BS. Point being that we aren’t all like the idiots currently in control of our country. Ironically, many in the DJT administration are recent immigrants pulling up the ladder behind them. I find them especially loathesome.

Well, human history is rife with horrors of enslavement going back to the start. I’m not trying to excuse US history, but I think it’s pretty cheeky when Britain and the Europeans try to pretend like they were not the root of the practice in this region. SA was a Dutch nightmare, BTW. Sigh.

The CRA and the VRA would never have been passed without two key things: 1. A majority of political support; 2. Neither could have been passed without the founders building in mechanisms to change the Constitution which is what many had in mind after losing key battles including ending slavery.

I saw blatant racism towards black people, Muslims, and Asians living in the UK and in a British commonwealth country in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Racism isn’t a uniquely American disease unfortunately.

Supreme Court Justice John Roberts asserted that we live in a post racial society which means the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act are no longer needed. Meanwhile you are saying that never in American history has there been a majority that favors equality. You’re both wrong.

Also worth noting that Pastor Niemoller was a devoted Nazi until he wasn’t. His arc yielded the poem “First they came…” which was an important admission of his own errant decisions as well as a cautionary tale for the future of humanity. Look for the helpers. Sometimes they’re reformed assholes.

The film actually doesn’t portray a happy storybook existence before Captain Von Trapp decided to reject the social and political mores. Also, it’s not meant to be a PBS documentary. It’s an anti-fascist parable based on a true story set in a musical. Note that I said “accessible”.
