As we head farther into fall there is a 2nd (more limited in scope & frequency, but still hazardous) severe weather season. SPC already has the day 6 (Saturday) outlook at slight out west. This looks to mainly be a threat for the lower Mississippi River Valley but will bear watching this weekend.

Historic, major flooding is ongoing along the Kentucky River Sunday. The forecast crest of 49.5’ at Frankfort Lock Monday morning would be the highest on record. The current record is 48.5’ set December 10, 1978.

A significant severe weather threat (moderate risk) clips far western Kentucky Friday with an enhanced risk west of I-65. Widespread damaging wind, tornadoes and large hail possible. If you have friends or family out west give them a heads up!

Just measured 0.5" ice from the round of freezing rain on top of yesterday's snow. Spent the last 1/2 hour chipping out my vehicle. Roads are hazardous.
