🌱Progress on the greenhouse continues in between the rain storms. Still quite a bit of siding to be put in in various places plus staining. I can’t wait to get all the scraps and rubbish cleaned up, especially the old plastic wrap greenhouse but not much point till we are done.

🌱Progress on the greenhouse continues, in between rain storms. Even when it’s raining, we can still stain the inside part of the cedar beams. The remains of our old plastic wrap greenhouse still need to be removed, we will get rid of it once the new one complete.

For whatever reason, none of the links will paste, but if you google “nursing staff wanted for Vancouver Island” this is a photo of the links that will come up

🌱The greenhouse roof is now done! One panel got slightly cracked during installation but you can only see it if you know where to look (and I’m not telling!😂). Also dropped a sheet of glass which exploded into a zillion tiny shards. Still to do: install 2 windows, sliding door and the roof peaks.

🌱Progress on the outside of the greenhouse has been stalled as it’s been raining very heavily for days,so we’ve been staining the inside cedar beams. A rare sunny break today allowed us to resume outside work but more heavy rain is coming later (far right photo on is from when it was still raining).

This is a photo of a Fireweed
plant that started growing in one of my flower pots that I brought home from the cabin. The flowers have gone to seed and just a bit of the seeds (the white fluffy stuff) are left. The leaves are only just starting to change to the red, orange & yellow I told you about.

🌱Work on the new greenhouse continues, despite rather a lot of rain.Every bit of glass has to be cleaned before installion both for appearance & also because glaze tape & caulking won’t otherwise stick. Hopefully we can we move the tender perennials in soon, they’re suffering from the cooler temps.

🌱Work on the greenhouse continues, we were able to install a few pieces of glass yesterday, although intermittent heavy rain slowed us down. It’s sunny today though so hopefully things move faster. Temps dropped to -1’C 😬 last night and will be even colder tonight, we need to get this finished asap.

🌱The new greenhouse is coming along and we will be installing all the salvaged glass we’ve been collecting for the last couple years. Here’s hoping it’s ready to move in all the tender perennials before the weather turns colder.

This is one of my favourite varieties. It’s a Blue Hosta. I had one almost this big at our old home but it was too big to dig up and take with us when we moved.

We have some growing here, my Gran called it “Pincushion Flower”. It’s quite invasive here so we can only let it grow in fairly isolated spots as it tends to take over and smother other plants, it spreads like mad.

🌱Despite the weather still being considerably warm for the last week of September (29’C / 84.2’F yesterday), our maple trees know what time of year it is and have started their autumn colour show.

🌱The Bee Balm and Crocosmia are a bit bedraggled from the whiplash of heatwave to atmospheric river then back to heatwave but are still buzzing with hummingbirds.
