TPI just published our report on PREA abuses by @tdcj.bsky.social, demonstrating deliberate falsification of information related to PREA compliance, and deliberate endangerment of trans and queer persons through abusive application of Texas statute 501.011.

TPI publishes comment letters concerning deficient PREA audits @tdcj.bsky.social prisons. Hughes Unit has a history of excessive PREA violations, and has one of the top trans populations in TDCJ.

PREA audits of Texas prisons are atrocious, and it is clear that @tdcj.bsky.social manipulates the audits and auditors just go along. Recent TPI comments July 5: Huntsville Unit; July 11: Hightower Unit.

Absurdly, in @tdcj.bsky.social, this is the standard treatment of someone indicating suicidal ideation, only SOS designation requires no mental health monitoring, allowing the torture to go undocumented and unmonitored.

Another form of torture @tdcj.bsky.social is euphemistically called SOS, which stands for security observation status. This is basically locking someone with only a paper robe generally in cold cell torture.

That practice, which we continue to get complaints about even though the agency -- after claiming it wasn't against policy because there was no policy, ignoring the inhumanity of the treatment -- claimed it was no longer practiced.

These issues are not limited to Rikers, but most likely happen in nearly every prison and jail. In Texas prisons (@tdcj.bsky.social), one practice includes locking people in 3 x 3 foot cages for days at a time.
