I super understand the feeling. i was in denial all the way until my diagnosis for adhd and autism when i was 18, and it explained almost everything. But its still a really hard pill to swallow bc we lived our life with a belief about ourselves that is now absolutely shattered

PS is 2 years old now and i completely agree. Comps will switch, people with come and go, but with an open mind everyone can learn so much and have a ton of fun without feeling like they cant do what's most enjoyable to them

the topic of gatekeeping was sparked by the excalibur stuff and that sparked people critically thinking about how things are structured rn and many observed most people not wanting to scrim down, mainly at high-top levels. the convo just went a few directions all stemming from the same places

Im curious to know where top players are explaining their perspective on things /gen. I might just not be in the right places to see them

sometimes so we just have to settle for a lower levle scrim. Scrimming down also helps the other teams improve too. Its much more nuanced than "just scrim at your level its that simple lol"

It can be easier to try out new strats vs a slightly lower skilled team bc you dont have to be as refined. You can also try to refine something very particular vs lower levels bc you dont have to worry as much about being great in every area. Also it can be impossible to find shit around my level-
