Proof of the pudding is in the eating. Estimating h² for different birth cohorts may say something about whether shared env declines or increases in importance; (M)CoT studies are better than mere correlations in assessing the influence of parental traits and behaviors on child outcomes, etc. etc.

I have no problems with moderate overestimations of h². My vantage point is social sciences, where the is still a lot of opposition to the idea that there are genetic effects _at all_ and that everything. I just think a wholesale dismissal of pedigree studies is counterproductive on that front.

Honestly, I am a bit confused by Gusev's post. I read one of the recent papers he cites, and my reading was not like his. I also think his evidence for very low h2 for educ, Markel, is wrong (or at least misunderstood). Considering writing something longer about this two-front war...
