How interesting! Likewise, in Thai (my second language) there's a word บริวาร (boriwan) that the dictionary translates as satellite, even though it generally refers to someone's retinue or servants. I guess the thinking behind it must be similar.

Coincidentally, today I learned from another post (no doubt embarrassingly late in life, and it's something that everyone else knows already) about the Mbabaram word for dog. I assume you're covering that in the video?

Brilliant and indispensable viewing. I particularly loved those baobab trees and their metaphorical two fingers to empire - they have become my arboreal heroes.

Luckily my daughter's 'care' wasn't quite as appalling as in the article, and a few of the health professionals were great, but even then, after three years in the system she left it deeply traumatised and recovery took years. She's a remarkable young woman to have got through it.
