Didn’t say I’m mad. I’m the firsts to tell you I chose to live here and to stay, even after the industry consolidated to the point they could abandon the “secondary” market. Just noting reality. Also not sure Austin TX is a secondary market. But didn’t come here to pick fights. Happy T-day to you.

I bought my ‘61 for $850-ish IiRC and sold it four years later for $2000. Only used car I’ve even made money on!

Ten years ago I could fly out at 9AM PST in Bellingham and with the time difference arrive in AUS and be in my rental by 3:00PM CST, for a lot less than $760 RT.

I mean check out that “low-fare” alert- Bellingham WA to Austin TX in just 21 hours for the low price of $760 plus taxes and fees. You get to BLI airport at 3:15 and arrive in AUS late the FOLLOWING afternoon. If you live in a secondary market like I do you’re pretty much over the barrel.

That said. Alaska Airlines- which used to be pretty awesome, now runs YouTube ads legit bragging about handing out peanut gratis in “first class”. Keep in mind that between consolidation, route reductions, and deregulation the average consumer has little choice in the matter.
