Anyway...
Eventually, like everything, fewer of us were left and things slowly faded

But Idk, I think that way of seeing life from a more positive, selfmade perspective, believing in a future we build with our own hands might be what’s kept me from giving up on this whole drawing thing haha 🤷🏻💕

It didn’t matter where tbh, as long as the space felt comfortable for everyone.

We shared the idea that punk rock (ad ofc hardcore punk) can change, be different, open to everyone, do things another way, and most importantly do it ourselves 🤝💪🥰

(Why do I look so old in this pic??? I was just 20!)

That’s how we started making bands, music fanzines, zines about vegan recipes, random curiosities, anything we wanted to share. We launched a small DIY hardcore and straight edge distro, started organizing alcohol-free shows at hours when younger people could come (yes, even in the morning) ✌️😌

Little by little, I started building healthier friendships with people who wanted to do things with their lives, whatever their path was, but who, like me, didn’t want to end up wasting every weekend. And they also loved punk 🥰

That same weekend, when I went out partying around my area, I saw how everything was falling apart, friends having a hard time because of drinking, fights over (well, you know), and that feeling of getting stuck in that lifestyle as a way to escape really scared me...

I discovered it when I was 16, at a show where people were going wild, like dancing so hard, having the best time, and most of them, including the band, had Xs on their hands. I kind of knew what it meant, but it didn’t really resonate with me until that moment 🫣

What’s Edge Day and straight edge, and why does it matter to me?

Straight edge, simply put, is a branch of punk rock that stands for having fun without the need to drink, smoke or use drugs in a scene where the norm is usually the opposite
