PhD student at OSU AEDE. I study AFOLU emissions reduction schemes and want to study energy. Mostly I used Twitter for politics and space and war stuff, I figure this will be much the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Men, and less Carbon
i think this is a male thing but maybe it’s a me or a midwestern thing, but you couldn’t pay me to talk about sex with my friends. its probably normatively good, but it’s strange to me

Strikes me as an underdiscussed gap.

(case in point: I’ll probably delete this post soon)

What should write about sometime: what is this business about “when women talk about someone being good at sex”?

women seem to talk about this with frequency >0 and it really confuses me.

Dahm? Or are you recommending a different book on the same topic?

relatedly, are you Anglican? You occasionally have these posts that hint at, at a minimum, profound interest in that movement, and I’m Episcopalian, so I’m just curious

How does (did?) WPA work with journalism? does the government subsidize existing outlets? beef up public news sources like PBS and NPR? just run subsidize a bunch of independent bloggers?

My understanding of the era isn’t strong, but I’m interested in the principle.

Have you written longer form stuff at Liberalcurrents or even bulwark? Seems like defense is always a perceived weak point in left-center politics, tho unsure if that’s an intractable gender thing

& do you have a post somewhere that describes your overarching approach to thinking about defense?

assuming trump papers over the damage to farmers, where do we expect the load of tarriffs to hit most painfully? And how long. I feel like I’ve been waiting for the bottom to fall out for a while, but the markets keep chugging along…

Too include democratic senators who will cave on any negotiation to preserve the filibuster!

(Obligatory: they’re not the worst ones; still, so many democratic senators are built for 1990s style politics )
December 8, 2025 at 4:46 PM
These are real?
December 8, 2025 at 3:08 PM
Give us a senate built for this decade!
December 8, 2025 at 3:00 PM
I still think there’s time for a generic non-ancient Mainer to win that primary

Though to be self aware the racial dynamics here are probably something I should be conscious of.
December 8, 2025 at 2:54 PM
was thinking the race looked weirdly like MI: leftist lane dominated by unelectable admirable type, centrist lane taken by a house member out of step with the times, and a narrow opening for a state legislator who is both willing to fight and a little less tied to the leftist orgs.
December 8, 2025 at 2:54 PM
im an Ohioan so it doesn’t matter, but Im definitely wary of Crocketts ability to win and was happy to see this. Talarico seems like an ideal combination of “will fight” and “can win”. (Allred didn’t seem fight-y enough)
December 8, 2025 at 2:54 PM
How are we still discussing this? How many brain-poisoned Argentines feel the need to lose this fight again?
December 3, 2025 at 11:45 PM
No reason, I think, to assume that. Dems can operate without a central leader until the invisible primary heats up post midterms
December 3, 2025 at 12:20 PM
Agree that this is bad, but why doesn't it seem to get enforced? I access Bluesky all the time without a photo id or any verification from Ohio
December 3, 2025 at 10:59 AM
Do people have good analyses of what it would take to overcome state legislative gerrymanders?
December 3, 2025 at 3:35 AM
Under uniform swing (not guaranteed), this gets us TX, OH, FL, IA, AK.

I think we can go further. Give me Blansas or give me death!

*Chanting to myself* reverse 2010. Blue Tea Party
December 3, 2025 at 2:55 AM
Well, yes, but the specific syntax sleeping king made me think of Cthulhu in Black Tom. I guess that's in my brain more than in his, then.
December 2, 2025 at 10:06 PM
Is this a direct reference to the ballad of black tom or does that title appear in lovecraft works I haven't read (or CoC)?
December 2, 2025 at 9:49 PM
I have this advent calendar and in fact it does
December 2, 2025 at 2:37 AM
Offhand? John Goodman.

O Brother where art thou, big Lebowski, emperors new groove, Argo…
December 1, 2025 at 3:44 AM
Can someone put together an article on this so I’m not pointing to pseudonymous Bluesky accounts when I tell people about this? I don’t want to be committed

Why are nurses a MAGA constituency tho?
