To be clear, I'm not criticizing the event. I'm pointing out that OP is mad that Latino immigrants that felt excluded from latinojayceweek went and made their own week, but left out why they might have felt excluded.

But then again, I can't speak for them. Either way, the violent xenophobia by op was not okay and insulted non-latino immigrants as well.

I think there should be more collections that highlight non-English fics. But then they shouldn't be advertised for *all* Latinos, if they're going to exclude some, you know? I think that's where the crux of this lies.

Honestly, that's great! I think looking at my other post though might explain what actually ended up going wrong -- other people explain their stories. It also doesn't change the xenophobia and hostility to immigrants.

Because they could be a Latino immigrant to an English-speaking country. They might have some or no knowledge of Spanish, but still be Latino.

The funny thing is that I'm not even Latino -- I was insulted by the xenophobia, which implicated the general idea that immigrants are somehow how "less than" in their ethnic identity. Honestly, as syressedull as this was, I"m glad that I was at least able to show both perspectives on this.

Right now, I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information from both sides. It doesn't seem like either side is correct, and people are even contradicting themselves. No one is saying Latino is a USA word (literally never said that).

Yeah, I'm still not liking the way they're saying that like a xenophobic insult/slur. They're not doing a great job proving that they aren't hostile to immigrants.

As I said previously, Latino immigrants shouldn't have expected their experienced to be centered, but knowing that there was hostility against them is very important context.

My concern is not about the criteria for latinojayceweek itself, but that it seems like op left out a very important detail in their story and that the xenophobia against Latino immigrants wasn't addressed.

That's definitely relevant, though I'm not on X/Twitter. However, it does seem that their claim about experiencing hostility and xenophobia to the effect of questioning their identity is valid. I'm seeing it substantiated, op keeps calling me gringo like an insult even though I'm not even latino???

You are not owed unquestioning belief. I believe what the evidence and facts say, and it looks like many like you have in fact been alienating them. You keep demeaning Latino immigrants as though they are somehow less than you, and your xenophobia isn't helping anything.

First of all, stop calling me "gringo" -- I'm not even Latino. I'm South Asian. Second, it's clear that their claims about you and many others being xenophobic and questioning their Latino identity are true, because you are doing it right now.
