There is much to applaud in Labour's new inquiry into foreign interference in British politics

But it needs to go much further if it's to tackle how foreign influence really works - and properly protect British democracy

Labour’s foreign interference inquiry needs to go *much* further

comparia.beta.gouv.fr is so awesome for AI literacy - it makes it so easy to get a sense of different models, rate their responses on accuracy etc, then see what the models were and how they compare, plus the carbon footprint of your queries (as on the screenshot) #FF2025

A blast from my past - the Medieval Soldier database takes nearly 300,000 military service records from 1369-1453 and makes them available as a searchable database.

An invaluable resource for understanding medieval warfare, society and the English medieval state. Learn more in the link. 🗃️
We built a database of 290,000 English medieval soldiers – here’s what it reveals
We created the database in order to challenge assumptions about the lack of professionalism of everyday soldiers.

Universities are getting creative with clean energy ☀️🎓

As outdoor learning spaces grow, off-grid solar furniture - think solar-powered benches, tables and charging stations- is becoming a new kind of campus infrastructure.

It’s functional, sustainable and student-friendly 🤩

True. The fact that there are busloads of tourists in Stratford shows that culture is big business. Not supporting it isn't merely philistine; it's also bad economics.

The Sumerian King List is one of the most famous objects in the Museum, and one of the most important records from ancient Mesopotamia.

It lists a succession of cities, their rulers and the length of their reigns from the beginning of time to around 1800 BCE.

Nathan Gill is no fringe politician.

He was the leader of the Reform Party and before that UKIP in Wales.

A Brexit Party MEP.

A friend and ally of Nigel Farage, who in 2016 called him:

"terrific," and "as honest as the day is long."

This is a MASSIVE story

Old Soviet joke for today:

A man walks into a newsstand every day, looks around, and leaves.

After a long time of this, the owner says “Can I help you find something?”

“I’m looking for the obituaries.”

“The obituaries are in the back of the newspaper, comrade.”

“Not the one I’m looking for.”
