Apparently it’s pecan pie. I would’ve previously said turkey with stuffing and a cranberry-orange relish, but this year we’re doing it with an expat crew and I’m not going to eat 10lbs of turkey by myself (instead I’ll be making the prime rib I usually make on Christmas)

(I am also making the pie)

Taqueria Orinoco was my favorite al pastor, looks like they’ve added locations since I last went

SJC is a way better experience if you’re not fussed about direct flights from SFO. I hate connecting so I usually do SFO.

Both have an in n out within 5 exits off 101

It is so good, the hype is warranted. I once took a girl there on a second date, now we have two kids and a mortgage…

We got delivery from some local place whose name I can’t remember, but their magnet has been on my parents garage fridge for the last 20 years. Still the best pizza I’ve ever had.

Did you get pizza delivered when crossing the highway?

Sandpit at Brooklyn Bridge Park was heaving at 10am

The gardens are even better IMO, but the food is great. Believe it or not the wine is subpar relative to the area

Mail-in ballots have to be postmarked by Election Day, so they have to wait for all those to come in before applying the ranked choice algorithm. Also the Board of Elections is full of crony failsons

Be sure to stop at a Woolworth’s, the best grocery store on the planet. Even the mini Woolies at CPT is pretty good.

Cooked an absolutely perfect ribeye while wearing a 2 week old baby the night my wife got back from the ER. Did it on the induction hot plate and it was the first time in a while I didn’t set off the smoke detector.

Yeah it was a real bummer. I think it was an AT&T situation where two brothers split the inheritance and then recombined. For a few years after coming back together they operated separately and Murray’s stayed alright, but as soon as the in-store branding changed it was game over

Tal’s is great. I used to love Murray’s but when they rebranded as Zucker’s the quality really fell off.

My nuclear take is that new Court St. Bagel is better than old Court St. Bagel.

The Big Bobotie

(actually that’d be a more appropriate nickname for Moerat, but I don’t rate him)

Had to throw myself between my pregnant wife and a belligerent couple going to town on an old lady for saying something racist on the A train. Talk about a no-win scenario

I thought the same thing. He’s even got the widow’s peak

Ron Livingston (totally blanking on the character name)

SF: Taquería El Farolito at Mission and 24th right by the BART station. And anywhere you see a Philz Coffee you should try one. Ike’s Sandwiches are also great.

SB: for Mexican, La Superica. For a nice sit down dinner, The Lark in the Funk Zone. And Handlebar across from the mission for coffee.
