CT1 anaesthetics, critical care echo-head
The literature is quite heterogenous and as with all cardiac arrest studies understanding the system (i.e. country) as well as setting (prehospital/ED/ICU) is crucial for interpreting outcome data - (i.e. can paramedics declare death? Is life-sustaining treatment ever withdrawn?)

➖Those with OHCA rarely have good functional outcomes
➖Those without OHCA frequently have good outcomes
➖Associated C spine/vascular/airway injuries are uncommon in those who survive to hospital

🔬 Pleased to share our new scoping review on cardiac arrest after hanging- sadly not an uncommon cause of cardiac arrest which has previously lacked a good quality synthesis of evidence

When following a left atrial pressure algorithm that uses 2.8m/s as a binary cutoff, do people give a bit of leeway if it's *almost* 2.8 with severe TR/wide vena contracta?

Does anyone know where I can find a manual/user guide for Phillips 5500CV or other similar Phillips device? Only get Phillips espresso machines when I Google for the manual and it's slow mastering the knobology incrementally just while scanning!

Fortunately UK now has specific NICE guidance to refer to in these conversations in addition to a joint royal college of EM/radiology advisory statement - very helpful to refer to even though not all know about it!

Maybe correlates with AKI at least? Though slightly less inter-observer agreement than peripheral. Can't find much to really compare the two, most studies seem to just do one or the other.

Basic FICE training scan in a stable post-op elderly patient with no cardiac hx other than systolic murmur & pre-op echo demonstrating SAM of the MV, pending workup.
Have always thought it must be amyloid?

Never seen one, though I think I would get in trouble if I followed Lichtenstein's suggestion of using tofu to get around its shortcomings

As a hobbing pizza freak I think depends on pizza type - Neapolitan/NY style must be round (for slicing/folding reasons) but Detroit/Sicilian style MUST be rectangular (for crispy edges)

I like the acronym they put on all the ambulances, possibly the most contrived I've ever seen. Not a trial acronym but probably an ICU Ed &Toddcast (?on bluesky yet) 0/10

A life-saving bargain for anyone with a NEWS of 5 who triggers sepsis! For a limited time only, buy one and get a free thinking cap!

Would you include a high-dose hydroxocobalamin arm in such a trial too? I'm also not sure what inclusion & endpoints would be - surely would need a prohibitively expensive n to look for a mortality signal or even functional outcomes in refractory vasoplegia
