Why not just throw transphobic at the top of the pile?

So I think the ultimate issue is that finding things out about other writers colors their work. But JKR has *always* been low key racist (Seamus Finnegan, Cho Chang, etc) and the one acknowledged LGB relationship was super toxic. If you're already rolling with all that...

Don't worry if you can't see it, it's basically the text posts + me showing off my Giant Man shelf.

Also, I did wear that shirt intentionally, but it's so faded irl I didn't make a thing of it. Did *not* realize how well the camera picked it up until reviewing footage.

For anyone who knows, yes that choice is deliberate, but no spoilers! SHHHH!

That's not to say anything the series make you feel is invalid: those feelings are yours and she can't take them from you. But as part of that break you realize all the stuff you were subconsciously making excuses for.

Like, even stuff that's fully separated from her that I still have fond feelings about (Very Potter Musical series is good if you need that fix) is hard to watch now. It's sort of like a toxic relationship... you don't realize until you're fully out how bad it actually was.

Just speaking from my own experience, it took time to fully break. I stopped financially supporting fairly early (around the time of the initial post), but I watched youtube channels that talked about the series, or enjoyed fan content. But the more distance I put, even that stuff felt squicky.

It's tough to separate yourself from it, I totally get it. But the nice thing about the series being so popular, there are a LOT of (often better written) magical school series out there to enjoy, whose writers aren't awful bigots who actively attack others using royalty money.

I mean, I'd happily show up if I got an invite. How else could I even have the chance to spit on his corpse?

I mean, the obvious answer is that a whole bunch of dumbass CEO's have latched onto it as the Hot New Thing™ and are too childish and pathetic to admit it isn't working how they thought, but if they juuust keep shoveling money at the problem...

Let's not kid ourselves: Hulk was by far Marvel's most popular live action adaptation until Blade. I was born in 89 and I can STILL hear Bixby's "Mr McGee. don't make me angry" line from the opening in my head.

Like, on the one hand, I get it: Spider-Man sells, Takuya has remained relevant in both the comics AND Sentai, and Hammond's Spidey is literally the same costume with different lenses and some attachments.

On the other hand, while I loved the Hammond series...

That shelf, just to show off.
November 19, 2025 at 9:31 PM
So we're getting Hot Toys figures of both 77 Nicholas Hammond Spider-Man and Shinji Tôdô's Takuya Yamashiro Spider-Man. I have (and love) my ML figures of these 2 posed next to my NWH trio, so I get it... but we're getting Hot Toys 77 Spider-Man before EITHER Company does a Ferrigno Hulk?

So more was coming, but will be a second, work. Nerd shit.
