CO2 was at 330 ppm when I started my PhD in oceanography at MIT in 1974. And yes, at the time, we well knew that CO2 was increasing, that fossil fuels were the main culprit, and that this was not good for the climate. I can't believe that after more than half a century, COP was not able to do more.

Yet she still retains the Labour whip?

When you're uniting the entire far right in supporting your measures, then no, those who have left the Labour movement will not tolerate disgraceful sneers of being 'performative'. Pedalling centrist nonsense which enables the far right is actual performativity and there is nothing grown up about it

Just read some chapters of Omar el Akkad's book. The last bit that I read was several pages on this exact point and the inherent flaws in liberalism. It'a a great book

This from the bloke who recently aped Enoch Powell in saying that he felt like we were becoming an island of strangers. Erm yes Kier, if you normslise and perpetuate racism in mainstream discourse, then don't be surprised if it becomes more prevalent. You're a key factor in it's return FFS.

If you put up a union jack or George’s Cross in middle of a hate campaign against migrants, asylum seekers & people of colour that used those flags as branding, you knew what you were doing even if you didn’t have sufficient courage in your abysmal convictions to say it. This must be said.
