I think Shapiro is probably a much stronger presidential candidate on paper than many are willing to give credit for but he will also absolutely be bodied on this issue on a primary debate stage and it won't just be from the left flank, but also the center flank. Buttigieg et al will also hit him.

As someone living in Texas i can tell you that Wind and Solar have NOT been looking good in the past five years despite our heavy investment in them
Renewables are nowhere near able to function as baseload sources YET and trying to frame them as baseload ready in big ol 2025 is goofy

Renewables are the long term solution, and have gotten leaps and bounds better at efficiency, they are carrying a lot of the grid in places like California and Texas already
