The idea is there, but I need an outline. Fanfic gives you strong guardrails, since people are already invested in the characters and have an idea of them in their head. But an original story can't survive without more careful planning...

I have something to admit. Every time I read 'Doloobu' until today I thought it was a silly baby-talk nickname for Doloris.

Subject matter aside, I do believe that this is my best work yet. I think that I've grown a lot as a writer in the past two months, using such techniques as 'reading a book'.

(Excuse me; I've been reading a certain visual novel, and it's started creeping into my thoughts...)

I genuinely believe everyone has something to give the world through writing. The main thing they lack is not skill, but simply courage.

Writing is unlike anything else. Since the use of language is such an intrinsic part of being human, you don't need to invest hours and hours into reaching a baseline. I'd hardly written a thing before last year, I didn't even read many books, but I still managed to put out something... passable.

It would be nice, wouldn't it? To be simply possessed by the Muses on a regular, daily schedule. To have all the art and creativity inside you simply flow out unbidden without effort. But most of us are not so lucky. We have to squeeze the meaning out of our own frail shells like blood from a stone.
