I kind of hope for something in the same vein as the anime adaptation for Caligula Effect, where they followed a main storyline but veered off in other directions...NGO as an anime might even work better if the focus is on other characters who watch KAngel's streams. we'll see

hello it is me, no gender ace ham, and while I'm currently not working on any major projects atm you can find my r18 work in my art tag here on bsky #tofu+beastart ! Here's an example:

Parts of the site are in English but not all of it, so I think it'll take some lurking and solid researching to make sure I'm posting right before I fully upload everything

Popiku is pretty popular amongst fanartists I've noticed (or just artists in general) thanks to being able to lock art behind passwords, and allegedly you can sign up without having to tie it to twitter! I haven't tested it yet tho

ahhh gotcha. I saw that there was a huge blowout between one of the mods and some R18 artists here, so I was a bit leery of the site after that

Ahh yeah. I understand the need for closed entry communities but looking at this is just exhausting. Even AO3 is starting to phase out their invite only signups

I mean not totally anti-nsfw but they're a Canadian based site and so they're more 15+ than anything else

VGen also is invite only (you have to have a specific number of followers) and is mostly kind of like a sfw skeb--I have kinda watched it since the beginning as I'm a vtuber and it started out specifically for connecting vtubers to asset creators. It's also very much anti-NSFW

I think right now genuinely the one sort of site that's still kept the spirit of DA is probably Xfolio (A dupe of Pixiv that firmly bans gen ai, also most people moved to it after Pixiv's recent scandals re: how they treat their staff) but the language barrier is a tall, daunting one sometimes

Anyway I don't think the article is bad or incorrect or anything, just maybe overly nostalgic slash rose tinted in regards to what was considered "shit, but it's what we got" and was much easier to post on compared to say Y!gallery or even LJ at the time

Especially because subscriptions on da were like TWENTY WHOLE DOLLERYDOOS which was why year long or several month long subs were considered too shelf prizes in OCTs

Like we were already doing art for free for the hell of it and the spirit of creativity or whatever. Pretend play points that were worth fractions of pennies was insulting when we already knew about payment plans over on like, pixiv or JP sites
November 17, 2025 at 3:22 AM
Ah one more thing. While there was a whole spirit of creativity and trying to get artists rightfully reimbursed for work via commissions etc...the points system that OP fondly waxes about, I remember, was not so fondly received when it first launched. A lot of us were pissed actually

My god I was getting death threats on the daily as an SDL slash OCT admin. I distinctly remember I started chatting on DA IRC BECAUSE someone started drama in SDL over their comic losing a match
