Yeah unfortunately the forefathers of our media game did us no favors. Bill Simmons + TrueHoop/ESPN did a lot to create the current “NBA is broken industrial complex” that we currently live in. And I grew up on that shit, but it’s easier to see with hindsight those were the seeds that grew.

The discussion about the NBA Cup dovetails with one of my latest crusades. “Trying to fix the NBA” has been the media’s main obsession for going on 20 years, even while Stern was still commish. People talking about it needing to be fixed only feeds the false notion that it’s a broken product.
