The description of the lengths they go to in order to cool their reactors in that book is absurd, and more or less realistically addresses the problem of overboarding RIDICULOUS amounts of heat in space.

It's NOT easy.

Space in shadow is "cold" with no convective help.
Space in sunlight is "hot" with no convective help.
To escape "space is hot" you need to go so far out from the sun it neuters the speed of the data center...
And you're still stuck only radiating heat.
