He managed to be quite a bit more hopeless (re: antisemitism) than that one incident, though?
For someone who had previously been comfortable describing Hamas and Hezbollah as 'friends', the contrast with his inability to recognise (let alone deal) with antisemitism in the party was striking.

and a corollary - if you're a government that thinks it needs to break a manifesto pledge, build the case for this in public, by having a conversation with the electorate, as if you believe them to be capable adults.

It doesn't feel like a ringing endorsement of local government in the UK, all these people that felt unable to remain in the parties in which they were elected six months ago, but maybe it doesn't amount to more than the usual noise on the fringes of it all?
