Spending my Saturday morning at the Irish Association of Law Teachers conference @maynoothuni.bsky.social. Gave a paper on EU accession to the ECHR. Currently listening to Jamie McLoughlin of UCD on domestic incorporation of ICESCR followed by @colinmurray.bsky.social on a Bill of Rights for NI.

I’m guessing the acronym is not a homage to the Doge of Venice ? Not sure Venetian governance structures are what they’re advertising but maybe they are. Elon might love the Doges’ fashion style though.

At the IACBA (Immigration, Asylum and Citizenship Bar Association) annual conference. Will be speaking on EU accession to the ECHR later with a specific focus on the AFSJ.

Great to be at Queen’s University Belfast for a conference on the Dillon decision (Art 2 Windsor Framework) organised by Prof Chris McCrudden and the Irish Centre for European Law.

Fantastic to see this special issue of the Northern Ireland Legal Quarterly on the Windsor Framework out. Co-edited by myself, Mary Dobbs and Karen Lynch Shally. Lots on Article 2 (its history, how it relates to the EU Charter, environment, and health), Common Travel Area, Governance, etc.

Great to see this out at last. 3000+pages of commentary on the TEU, TFEU and EU Charter with a few entries authored by myself!

Highlight of the day. Keynote speech by president O’Leary.

Ice on the Royal Canal as I make my way to the big smoke for the Irish Centre for European Law conference on human rights law. The conference will close with a speech by ECtHR president Síofra O’Leary.

Great to have Dr Aoife McMahon BL here in Maynooth for a guest lecture on EU asylum law.
