The company's robotaxi routes will now stretch to San Jose, an expansion that will create a unified 260-mile service area across the Peninsula, according to Waymo. The company said it will also begin curbside drop-off and pick-up service at San Jose Mineta International Airport. It already offers curbside service to the Sky Harbor Phoenix International Airport.

And last week we won with a broad coalition after laying out a plan that takes bold action on costs, despite political pressure and people saying it couldn't be done. Voters made it clear: the American people want leadership with a backbone. And at a critical moment when they need leaders to stay strong under pressure, the Senate is on the brink of caving on a bill that the American people can't afford. "Make no mistake, if this deal passes, it will lead to New Jerseyans paying far more for their healthcare, when they are already paying more and more for everything. Making this deal is malpractice — we have more than 9 million people in New Jersey who are counting on us to fight for them, and instead Washington is putting them in harm's way. Not on my watch."

And you don't have to put this on, because I don't wanna embarrass you, and I'm sure you're not- you have a great- I think you have a great, new leader, frankly, who's the young woman that's leading your whole enterprise is a great- - from what I know. I don't know her, but I hear she's a great person. But 60 Minutes was forced to pay me- a lot of money because they took her answer out that was so bad, it was election-changing, two nights before the election. And they put a new answer in. And they paid me a lot of money for that. You can't have fake news. You've gotta have legit news. And I think that it's happening. I see- NORAH O'DONNELL: Mr. President- PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: -I see good things happening in the news. I really do. And I think one of the best things to happen is this show and new ownership, CBS and new ownership. I think it's the greatest thing that's happened in a long time to a free and open and good press.

We are deeply saddened that we were prevented from meeting with young readers at Country Club Elementary in San Ramon, California during our tour for The Day the Books Disappeared, a picture book we wrote about book banning, illustrated by Dan Santat. When we arrived, students were waiting for us in the library, but instead of taking us to meet them, the principal pulled us into an office and told us to "only talk about the book." When pressed, she told us not to speak about book bans or the types of books being banned, specifically books with queer representation. We responded that this would be out of our integrity, and that we would not change our presentation. Despite district approval for our visit, the principal informed us the directive came from above and excused herself to call her district supervisor. Forty minutes later, students were sent back to their classrooms, and we were not permitted to present. We hurt tor the students and broader school community. When school and district leaders choose to silence diverse voices instead of uplifting them, students are most impacted. Students learn that school is not a safe place for all. They learn that some people have value and others are not worthy of being visible. We both became authors because, as children, we did not see ourselves represented in books. Over the past few years, it has been heartening to see an increase in inclusive children's literature and horrifying to witness the corresponding escalation in book bans targeting books by and about the most marginalized. This is why we wrote The Day the Books Disappeared. We wanted to create a safe, accessible way to open conversations around the importance of reading freely. Over the last two weeks, we've visited with thousands of pre-kindergarteners to fifth graders across the country and we have been inspired by their powertul insights. One student shared, "just because you don't like a book, doesn't mean that it's not right for someone else." Our book and presentation encourage students to expand their perspectives and recognize our interconnectedness. We want students to know their stories and all stories matter. Students of Country Club Elementary, we hope you know that your community is better because you are in it. We see you. We celebrate you. A system of fear can only be fought by an even stronger ecosystem of courage, and we've witnessed the ripples created by remarkable acts of bravery across the country on behalf of students and learning. Statement From San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie Yesterday, I spoke to San Franciscans about a potential federal deployment in our city. I said then what I have said since taking office, that keeping San Franciscans safe is my top priority. Late last night, I received a phone call from the President of the United States. I told him the same thing I told our residents: San Francisco is on the rise. Visitors are coming back, buildings are getting leased and purchased, and workers are coming back to the office. We have work to do, and we would welcome continued partnerships with the FBI, DEA, ATF, and U.S. Attorney to get drugs and drug dealers off our streets, but having the military and militarized immigration enforcement in our city will hinder our recovery. We appreciate that the president understands that we are the global hub for technology, and when San Francisco is strong, our country is strong. In that conversation, the president told me clearly that he was calling off any plans for a federal deployment in San Francisco. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem reaffirmed that direction in our conversation this morning. My team will continue to monitor the situation closely, and our city remains prepared for any scenario. I am profoundly grateful to all the San Franciscans who came together over the last several days. Our city leaders have been united behind the goal of public safety. Trump @realDonaldTrump The Federal Government was preparing to "surge" San Francisco, California, on Saturday, but friends of mine who live in the area called last night to ask me not to go forward with the surge in that the Mayor, Daniel Lurie, was making substantial progress. I spoke to Mayor Lurie last night and he asked, very nicely, that I give him a chance to see if he can turn it around. I told him I think he is making a mistake, because we can do it much faster, and remove the criminals that the Law does not permit him to remove. I told him, "It's an easier process if we do it, faster, stronger, and safer but, let's see how you do?" The people of San Francisco have come together on fighting Crime, especially since we began to take charge of that very nasty subject. Great people like Jensen Huang, Marc Benioff, and others have called saying that the future of San Francisco is great. They want to give it a "shot." Therefore, we will not surge San Francisco on Saturday. Stay tuned!

But according to a person who socialized with Platner when he was living in Washington, D.C., more than a decade ago, Platner had specifically acknowledged that the tattoo was a Totenkopf, the "death's head" symbol adopted by an infamous Nazi SS unit that guarded concentration camps in World War II. "He said, 'Oh, this is my Totenkopf, the former acquaintance told Jewish Insider recently, speaking on the condition of anonymity to address a sensitive issue. "He said it in a cutesy little way." The exchange occurred in 2012 at Tune Inn, a popular dive on Capitol Hill where Platner later worked as a bartender and was a frequent patron while he attended The George Washington University on the G.I. bill, according to the former acquaintance. He would often take his shirt off drinking with friends late at night at the bar, and on at least one occasion had stated he knew what the tattoo represented, the former acquaintance recalled. Platner gave varying accounts of the image during this time, saying at one point he was aware it was a Totenkopf when he had first gotten the tattoo several years prior and at another time claiming he had not known, according to the former acquaintance. The mixed accounts indicate that Platner has at least long been aware of the symbols's connection to Nazism, even as he said in the podcast interview he was not familiar with any such association when he chose to get the tattoo.
