I work in software, but my background is in philosophy and literature.
I write free software either because I find the topic interesting, or because the code is my canvas.

This is why actual theory defines it socially rather than setting some arbitrary number. The proles are those for whom making things better for all is the obvious choice. The bourgeois are those that must pick between making things better for their family and making things better for everyone.

I had a similar gem asked me: how would you allow an employee from Egypt to connect to the company VPN, knowing the Egyptian "firewall" actively tries to block these.
Had fun talking about how those things actually worked, deep packet inspection…
Took the rest of the interview, wasn't asked to stop!

the closest you'll get is probably scheme or a similar lisp
defmacro actually can do more or less anything, but at some point you're going to need special forms (so immediates) just to actually get the VM to do *something*
typically "if" and "def" have to be magic, but otherwise…

We have too many words for "array". We got:
* Array
* List
* Vector
* Tuple
* Matrix
* Stack
* Set
* Queue
* Table
* Window
* View
* Slice
* Pointer
* Field

I'm probably missing some.
Enough is enough, so I propose a new name to unify all these concepts: "Memory".

I honestly think that doing this for any reason *other* than what it is means that you will cut corners and not actually end up with a useful understanding, merely the feeling that you've gotten "the essentials" (which is a comforting lie)

the more I do it (in every field I touch, not just the one I work in) the more I end up looking around and realizing virtually no one else does this
so suddenly I ended up, completely by accident, having a huge advantage over almost everyone I interact with (professionally)

my favorite part about this post is that scheme people will yell at me for liking parinfer but unfortunately for them I also don't like scheme
