The TNRD is providing notice of a public meeting being held on Nov. 10 to provide an update on the CPKC train derailment and subsequent cleanup.

Updates will be provided by CPKC, Ministry of Environment, Environment Canada, and Interior Health.

The TNRD has received water quality test results taken at the intake for the #Savona Community Water System; at this time, there is no contamination and there has been no impact to water following the CPKC train derailment on November 1, 2025.

During the inaugural Board Meeting this afternoon (November 6, 2025), Ashcroft Director Barbara Roden was acclaimed as Chair and Logan Lake Director Robin Smith was acclaimed as Vice-Chair for the fourth and final year of the Board's term.

As part of National Waste Reduction Week, today is #ElectronicsWednesday, and it's important to safely recycle batteries!

Rechargeable batteries are a fire hazard when mixed with regular recycling or garbage, and they should never be thrown in curbside bins or garbage. (1/2)

The TNRD has partnered with Cleanfarms on a new pilot program to recycle agricultural plastics!

This program will ensure that bale wrap and silage bags and covers will be diverted from landfills and connected with recycling end markets instead.

This is an opportunity to reduce potential wildfire fuels - with brush and branches hauled away and chipped free of charge.

Fadear Lake Dam Situation Update - October 14, 2025:

Work has been done to gradually reduce the level of Fadear Lake and take pressure off of the unauthorized man-made dam. Water levels have decreased significantly in recent days.

An Evacuation Alert issued for properties along Fadear Creek due to risks associated with the Fadear Lake dam has now been downgraded to All Clear, effective October 10, 2025, at 3:30 pm.

On Thursday, October 9, TNRD staff and engineers were on site of the Fadear Lake dam, and were successfully able to clear debris from blocked culverts within the dam structure. As a result, water is flowing freely through these culverts downstream.

The TNRD has been advised by CN Rail about construction planned at the Vavenby Bridge Road rail crossing from Oct 14-16, which will impact local traffic. CN Rail has informed that the rail crossing will be closed on these dates, with access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians only.

The TNRD has issued an Evacuation Alert for properties along Fadear Creek due to the potential imminent failure of the Fadear Lake dam.

This Evacuation Alert is in place for approximately 14 addressed properties along Fadear Creek, in Electoral Area "O."
