The Madness Of Griffons
@tmogriffons.bsky.social
Av geek rebel and aviation heretic.
Normally found at the bottom of an image search rabbit hole digging up wonders from the early days of aviation .
Occasional modeller.
Pro EU.
Slava Ukraini.
React to my posts for a follow back.
It makes sense. Evolution developed fish to a low drag specification, why shouldn't it work for aircraft?
Such a shame that the Cubaroo didn't enter production. What a beautiful creation.

You can do different colours too.
November 30, 2025 at 9:52 AM
I could do this all day 😁

Good grief! I was so busy fighting with it to sort out the rudder stripes that it began to feel like it was taking the piss, I didn't notice it had been making adjustments elsewhere 😬
Here's the original.

A bit of A.I. colouring brings this to life beautifully. Now can you see just what a gloriously handsome machine it really was?

I shouldn't worry, it's not as if he'd included any real quality anyway. A real AV geek would spice it up with this hot babe.

I'm never getting past Pescara. Early days, just short hops, but he invented the cyclic controls and is the true daddy of helicopters.
Biplane style rotors are an added bonus.

TR -Antonov AN-71
BL - Lockheed YF-12A
TL - Avia B-71
BR Spartan UC-71

OOO is the so fuzzy that it's hard to tell anything until you've scrolled forever YF-12A.
Hardly worth the effort though as you didn't include this delightful Albatros L.71

Don't mind me, I'm just adding some much needed aviation quality to this quiz.

You could have done this so much better without a made up aeroplane.

I shall not be deterred by such outrageous libels. Just look at this glorious Farman F.110

For the stuffy old pipe smoking weirdos.
I have been told that the airframe restoration was so good that it would be airworthy for the want of an operating engine, but as it is, it's stuck the ground where tractors belong.

Would you like some pictures of a Spitfire? Of course you would.
But where does this one reside and have you been there yourself?

You can't beat a real classic though.
November 11, 2025 at 5:58 PM
There is only one truly correct response to this quiz Pete.
November 11, 2025 at 5:44 PM
The real loser here is @vivamjm.bsky.social himself. He could have made this quiz awesome if he'd included this beauty.
November 11, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Peak 67, you can't beat a good Bleriot. I can't understand why you wouldn't include it 🤷

Earlier I heard a helicopter go by out of sight with an unusual light fluttering sound but then sounded more like a light aeroplane as it flew away which seemed odd
It then flew back over later, one of these I think. It sounded odd as you don't often see piston engined helicopters these days.

Indeed, I only stumbled upon it online this summer so I went to the airshow there. I'd certainly be happy to go again just for a museum visit.
