In NI we definitely say ‘were standing’ or ‘are/am standing’ but then we’re supposedly closer to Elizabethan English here. I cringe every time I hear ‘were stood’ or ‘are/am stood’. Or perhaps it’s a generational thing. 🙈 either way they’re in it!!
