The conclusions were based on what the person who hired them wanted the conclusions to be.

Haha classic: “the four citations noted below are incorrect; however they stand by the conclusions and findings"

If you find invalid references after spending 6 or 7 figures for a report, and get told "but it doesn't change anything", that raises the question of what the conclusions are based on.

That sounds fascinating. There is a similar dynamic that happens at the bottom of the socioeconomic scale as well. Less so in the middle, I think.

If your commander goes completely nuts and tells you to shoot a detainee who's not in combat, is in a detention center, and isn't posing any threat, a junior service member is supposed to recognize that as an unlawful order and refuse to follow it, not presume legality.

Flu C only undergoes slow antigenic drift, not the fast antigenic shift type resortment that produces pandemics of flu A, so most adults have pretty good protection against flu C. But it's rising at a time our immune systems are reeling due to covid. Which well might be coincidence. Still concerning

Except me. I always suggest a European model. No one cares. I just find it frustrating that Canada refuses to learn from or even look at countries that do social democracy so much better than us, but instead insist on defending our so-so model because it's better than the worst country in the world.

Sure, and without shame no principle of any kind can be socially enforced, becausethere is no other way. Shame is a tool. It can be used for good or bad thongs. And it does a job that we have no other tool for. Don't want shame? Find a *viable* replacement. I'd love to have one, but I don't see any.
