Circling back to the issue of agency, a key theme of the new right is an echo of the old—they believe some people are fit only to be enslaved, and any attempt to resist that state of affairs is condemned as upending the cornerstone of civilization.

Tianjin has seen an almost Shanghai-esque outpouring of Halloween cosplayers in downtown, which I don’t really remember happening before. (The tourism bureau might have something to do with it.) There was a Mona Lisa, a cockroach man, and my favorite, who seems to be patrolling Liberation Road:

Tianjin has seen an almost Shanghai-esque outpouring of Halloween cosplayers in downtown, which I don’t really remember happening before. (The tourism bureau might have something to do with it.) There was a Mona Lisa, a cockroach man, and my favorite, who seems to be patrolling Liberation Road:
I actually tried to sketch it and the Venn diagram is awkward. For instance, we have to include that tiny sliver of the Bernie left that thinks Mamdani is fake, and most but not all defend Platner. (Area does not actually correspond to percentages.)

One of the most cursed sentences in Chinese urban development is to call a creative district “another 798,” after Beijing’s world-famous art district. They will simply never reach 798’s level. Anyways, TAFA* opened an art street. It’s pretty cool. But it’s not 798. 50D on #Pentax645. #believeinfilm
