Long term lurker, might actually post the odd thing here...
Pubs, good, if they're not gastro, otherwise bad. Cafes, sounds like the sort of places lattes might occur, so bad.

I doubt people experience their quality of life as a function of their advantage over the poorest, if they even know how they compare globally.

They might experience it as a function of how far they feel they've fallen behind the richest, but the US and others overtook Britain many decades ago.

Honestly my guess would be that ending the russian war on Ukraine quickly may well just accelerate the rate at which russia falls under Chinese control. The demobilisation shock alone, unless russia just immediately attacks the next target, is going to be severe.

'Under the governments of Presidents Lula and Dilma, the country... joined BRICS'

We are none of us without sin, it would appear.
November 23, 2025 at 10:49 AM
...

Tell that to Haiti.
November 22, 2025 at 1:17 PM
Sorry, but no. We can't afford these funny 'I mentioned WW2 once but I think I got away with it' bits anymore. It'd be like saying we shouldn't let France arm in 1914 because of Napoleon.
November 22, 2025 at 1:15 PM
Like believing in astrology, say. Or should I take a leaf from your book and try to have them removed from society, after all they go publishing their utter nonsense in all sorts of places, newspapers even, and we're expected to just go along with it! A man could drive himself quite mad on that.
November 22, 2025 at 2:30 AM
If you decide you're going to spend your life following him round and demanding he admit he's not the emperor of Jupiter, you're wasting your life. In this hypothetical, a man who lives normally except for the strange notion he holds that title? That's a nod, smile, move on and ignore situation.
November 22, 2025 at 2:28 AM
More seriously, going around demanding proof of sex from everyone? Rude. Refusing to address people by name? Rude.

Starting an argument with someone who thinks they're emperor of Jupiter? If they mean it, it's useless and if you keep pushing you're just bullying someone with enough issues already.
November 22, 2025 at 2:16 AM
If we aren't going to accept that people believe the things they profess to believe, how are we going to conduct politics?

There are people on the opposite side of the trans issues debate from you. If your answer to that is 'they're lying, lock them up', that's worse than them calling you a bigot.
November 22, 2025 at 1:59 AM
Your imperial highness, I had no idea! What's the weather like, and is the Great Spot doing well?
November 22, 2025 at 1:58 AM
For the record I have not allocated to myself the role of sex and gender police, so it's a matter of course that if someone introduces themselves as 'Miss so-and-so' or 'Mr wotsit', I address them as such. Used to be called manners, I think?
November 22, 2025 at 1:39 AM
And now with the tests of right-thinking, you must comply, obey or be purged! You're not just the mirror image of what you claim to oppose, you're a parody of it!

I've not brought up trans issues once, that's your obsession. And it must be an obsession because, unprompted, here we are stuck on it.
November 22, 2025 at 1:36 AM
Ah, here we go, denouncing the slightest dissent as puritanism, are you really sure you're any different to what you've been condemning?
November 22, 2025 at 1:23 AM
You are the mirror image of the very thing you claim to oppose.
November 22, 2025 at 1:02 AM
You can't just get rid of them, any more than they could just get rid of you. I mean you could build a society that oppresses and marginalises anyone more liberal than you, but then wouldn't you just prove them right after all? And indeed, create a new even more progressive backlash.
November 22, 2025 at 12:25 AM
More specifically though? Because just a generalised resentment of nobody in particular but everyone at large... It's a bit difficult to address that in policy.
November 21, 2025 at 11:34 PM
He is without doubt the worst ancient sumerian copper merchant I've ever heard of! But...
November 21, 2025 at 7:53 PM
I notice a lot of former officeholders get very vocal about things like what ought to be done for Ukraine once they're former, and I wonder where that moral clarity and certainty was when they were current. This guy avoided that, at least he's consistent! And consistently right, on this anyway.
November 21, 2025 at 7:32 PM
I'm not retreating, nor am I using a nasty smear. I stand by my criticism, but lots of bad people have successful political careers - his incompetence is why he didn't get away with those flaws where others have with the same or more.
November 21, 2025 at 7:28 PM
Pretty politically flat-footed, ham-handed and tin-eared though. None of which are useful characteristics for a leader of the opposition or prime minister.
November 21, 2025 at 7:20 PM
At the risk of starting an argument about Irish politics, I can't help but ask what debts you mean?
November 21, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Indeed, lunatics running the West's essential institutions into the ground is exactly the problem. Not sure I quite see how you've got so many of the powerful figures of today into the 'leftist' column, but hey-ho.
November 21, 2025 at 7:03 PM
Sorry, but it isn't that separate.

Regardless, 'bit of a kook' is one thing, the artist might well be just an idiot, plenty of them around for sure.

But the leader of the opposition should not be one too. Not if they have the ambition to become Prime Minister. Enough idiots get that job already.
November 21, 2025 at 6:59 PM
Yes, ideally the number of antisemitic caricatures in your artwork is zero, glad we at least get that far.

Please don't forget the great big Freemason eye pyramid thingy looming over it all, though - Freemasonry of course having 'succumbed to the Jews' in the standard antisemitic construction.
