Boone got liver damage and some other issues from the antibiotics he was given for his lungs. He's not doing well at all. Another vet appointment tomorrow.

Ratty intros have started. Besides Clover being a brat, they're going well! Big boss lady grandma rat is getting a nebulizer treatment so she's not there to put everyone in their place yet.

Happy Halloween from my little Skaven colony. The rats did not like paint on their paws so I had to hand paint these while flipping rats to stare at their feet.

My scrunkly little old man is gone. He was having heart problems and made it very clear that he was ready to go.
He had health issues all of his life but managed to make it to 2 years and 9 months.
RIP you grouchy boy.

Old man Kritch has an ongoing project called "absolutely obliterate this cardboard". He chews it all night and can be heard through most of the house.
Also ignore his goopy eyes...he's always had eye issues and needs eyedrops often.

It's really rough having so many older rats all at once. Last night we found Marnie had passed in her sleep. She was a rescue who never learned to trust people, but I'll miss seeing those hopeful little boba eyes begging for treats.

The oldest ratties got some quiet time away from the young, hyper rats to (very carefully) climb the rat tree and eat a lot of snacks.
Arlene is 2 years and 8 months old, has a lipoma, and is very blind. But she still zoomed around and climbed very high.

But sadly we lost Ratchitt today. My baby rat. The first baby born to our rattery. I'm absolutely devastated

Haven't been posting much since some of the rats have been having health issues (mainly age related, one sudden and unexpected) and I was focusing on their care.

The lucky litter is now 1 year old! Can't believe they were ever these tiny, fluffy beans (no way I could get them to sit quietly in a pile for pictures now).
Planning to make them a little cake later and hopefully get a picture of more than a blur once they get their crazy little hands on it.
